I tried searching the help center first but didn’t see an actual answer. So I found where clients can create a password but it doesn’t really work since it won’t let them create one without a “current password”. If you click on “forgot password”, you just get caught in an endless loop of email links and no actual passwords can be created. Help!
Original question (answered):
Can clients/customers we’ve invited to a project create a password for their project? Or can they only get to the project via the links in the emails?
I’ve had a few customers mention that they haven’t seen an option to create a password and some have the experience that the email links don’t work properly (which I’ve only noticed happens whenever the system is down). But I have a few clients who prefer to set up a password. Thanks!

I figured out that they can set up a password, but it won’t let me/them actually set up a password.
Hi there!
While our team is working on some updates to the login emails, there is a way to have your customers create a password.
Step 1: Please ensure your customer is fully logged out of all instances of GUIDEcx. They can do this by selecting the 3 dots in the upper left corner next to your company name and selecting Log Out from the drop-down menu.
Step 2: Go to our main login page at app.guidecx.com. Select the "Resend Invite" button and follow the prompts on the next page for entering email.
**Please note - this triggers a different email than the one you can send from the project Team page, which sends them a fresh invite to the project. This button triggers an email prompting them to "Complete Registration".
Step 3: Follow the prompts from the Complete Registration email and get a password set up!
Step 4: You will then be prompted to log in with your new password!
**Another note here - customers will always be given the option to "Request New Link" OR "Login with password" (this is on the page after entering their email address to sign in). They just need to select the latter option to login with their new password!
We have had customers also get stuck in the magic loop link. The “resent invite” doesn’t catch peoples eyes, maybe because its grayed out.
However when someone has compass view, if they do the reset password they get the email with the screenshot below. It can be frustrating because the big button is “access link” and in a rush, they click it, expecting to be sent to a password reset screen. If they read the print below the button, there is a small link about setting up an account, but its still just an access project link.
.
A new improvement to Magic Links gives customers an option to use an email verification code. That was fully released to general availability for all organizations this week.
To increase security and ensure reliable access to projects and tasks via email links, we will be implementing a new email verification flow for your customers.
This new flow will eliminate any issues with expired links caused by email security testing or link protection softwares.
1. When a customer clicks on a link in a GUIDEcx email, or uses a bookmarked link to access projects and tasks, they will be immediately directed to the project if they verified their email within the last 2 weeks.
If they haven't verified their email (or it has been > 2 weeks), they will land on a login screen asking for their email address.
2. Once the email is entered, the screen will update with your company branding and a message prompting customers to check their email for a one-time verification code. The code will expire in 15 minutes.
3. Customers should enter the code on the login page and click "sign in" to access their project or task.
Your customers will still have the smooth experience of "logging in" without a username or password, now with added security and reliability!
